LEVITICUS
Today is Saturday. I have Men's prayer breakfast, and then I'm going to an Oregon Duck game with my middle son, Jon. I have such fine children and they are all a joy to be around. I just love to be in the same room and listen to them interact. They are all so funny and I'm just happy to be their father. I'm in Leviticus this morning, and here are some thought:
1) LAY YOUR HANDS- In Leviticus, we find the phrase "he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering" seven times. The idea is connection. The sinner had to connect with the sacrifice. Sacrifices were not just given. They were held as their life was taken. This same connection takes place when we place our faith in Jesus Christ. We connect with Christ through faith. We are saying what Jesus did... he did for us!
2) LET THE FIRE BURN! In Leviticus 6:13 it reads: "The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out." This was the command for the altar that took the whole burnt offering. It was always to be ready to take the sacrifice. It was to be fed constantly so the fire was always burning. It was a symbol of God's constant willingness to forgive our sin. He was ready whenever we decided to come to Him. Today, Christ lives in us and is a constant reminder that Christ has dealt with our sins once and for all. He ever liveth to make intercession for us. His fire is always burning! He is always ready. We too need to have a fire burning in us. That fire comes when we yield to the Holy Spirit who lives within us. As we yield, we burn with the Holy Spirit. Brethren.... let the fire burn!
3) GOD WANTS A DIFFERENCE. In Leviticus 10:10, it states: "And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;" God wants a difference! Every statue that He gave to the Israelites, He gave to have them live different from all of the others around them. God wants the same for us today. He calls us to be a separated people. A unique people. He wants us to walk different, talk different, act different, dress different, etc. Now why? He wants to easily see His children. He wants a lost world to see that His people are special. Now, the world doesn't appreciate the difference, but God does. This Old Testament principle is timeless. We should not be trendy, we should be timeless.
Hope this is a help today. Have a great day and a blessed one! Pastor Mike Mutchler
