GENESIS 21-30
Although today is Sunday, this blog is for Saturday's reading. Here are the highlights:
1) WHEN YOUR ENEMIES KNOW- You know you are blessed of God when even your enemies can see God's blessings upon your life. This it was with Abraham. In Genesis 21:22, Abimelech says to Abraham: "God is with thee in all that thou doest:" And, in verse 34, we read: "And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days." Abimelech was a Philistine. He was of the people that would be enemies of Abraham's seed. But he saw the blessings of God upon Abraham and acknowledged them. Proverbs 16:7 "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." How wonderful to see God so bless Abraham. We too should ask for these same blessings upon our lives as well.
2) LIKE FATHER-LIKE SON- In Genesis 26:7, Isaac asked his wife, Rebekah, to say that "she is my sister". He learned this from Abraham, his father, who said the same of Sarah, his wife. We need to realize that children not only pick up the good that we do, but the bad. Usually our strengths will become theirs and our weaknesses will become theirs as well. That is why it is so important that we strive to live the best we can, and when we have a fault, recognize it as such and don't make an excuse for it. We need the blessings of God upon our children, not all of our own faults and weaknesses. Remember: Like Father-Like Son; Like Mother-Like Daughter. It just works that way!
3) I DIDN'T KNOW IT! - In Genesis 28:16, Jacob says: "Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not." Sadly, we live this way. God is in every place, but we don't look for Him. We don't acknowledge Him in every place, every circumstance; but, He is there! This morning, God will meet with us at Church, and many will know it and experience Him, but others will not be aware of it at all. They will go to Church and go home, and have never met with God. He IS in this place!! Let us not be in that crowd who does not recognize His presence.
Well, Hope you have a great day and a great Sunday. I have another Blog to share this afternoon. I already read the passage and picked out the thoughts, but just need time to type them out. I will do that this afternoon. May God richly bless you!
