GENESIS

Today is the first day of September.  I went fishing with my grandchildren this morning and it lasted until mid afternoon.  Then I cleaned fifteen trout and got ready for soul-winning at Church.  I led one man to Christ.  We had a good time.  So now I'm writing a few things about Genesis found in the first ten chapters.  Here are a few thoughts:
1) GOD SET THEM- In Genesis 1:16, God tells how he made two great lights, one to rule the day, and one to rule the night, and He made the stars also.  Now, verse 17 says: "And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,"  God set the stars.  He didn't just create them and fling them hap hazzardly in the universe.  I've seen people throw a handful of tinsel on a Christmas tree, and then I've seen someone who carefully hangs one tinsel at a time.  This is what God did!  He set the stars in their place.  He placed them according to His will and grand design.  Wow!  What a God!!
2) PROTECTED TILL HEAVEN- In Genesis 3:24 we see that God placed Cherubims and a flaming sword to keep the way of the tree of life.  Yet in Revelations we see that we have access to the Tree of Life.  God had them protected until we all get into Heaven.  God meant for us to enjoy the Tree of Life, but man's sin ruined that opportunity.  Jesus made that opportunity real again.  In Heaven, we will once again enjoy the fruit of this Tree of Life.  Praise God!
3) HE OFFERED A SACRIFICE OUT OF THE FEW- In Genesis 8:20, we see that Noah built an altar and offered burnt offerings on the altar of the clean animals that came off of the Ark.  Now he only took seven of each clean animal, but out of these, he offered a sacrifice to his God.  We too should sacrifice out of the little we have.  We need to be sure to realize that God is worthy, and God gave us the means to sacrifice in the first place.  Let us always give to God that which He is worthy of.... a sacrifice of what we possess for His glory!
Well, that is all for today.  I hope you have a blessed evening!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
