MARK & LUKE
It is Saturday morning. I woke up and went into the living room where I read, and first of all I wrote down a message for our men this morning. The Lord gave me the thought last night, and I pondered it each time I would be awake for a moment. As I lay in bed this morning, it all came to me so I got up and typed it out. Then I started my reading. I will share a few thoughts and then get ready to speak at our Men of Destiny meeting we have every Saturday. 1) WATCH- Mark 13:37 says: "And what I say unto you, I say unto all, Watch." Four times in the last part of this chapter we see that Jesus says to "Watch"! He is talking about the end times and how we need to be ready and looking for the fulfilment of these things. We are to be waiting, and watching for our Lord's return. Are you watching? Are we really looking for Jesus to come back.... even today? Oh LORD, help us to be watching, waiting, and ready for your soon return! 2) COULD THIS BE SAID OF US? In Mark 14:8, Jesus says of the woman who anointed his head with the very expensive ointment: "She hath done what she could:" Isn't that all anyone could say about us.... we did what we could. Now, wouldn't it be wonderful if Jesus said this about us.... we did what we could for His cause. Oh I fail so often to do all I should. I get so tired in the flesh, and yet there is still so much that could be done. Lord, help me to do what I can for my Savior! 3) I AM- In Mark 14:61, Jesus is plainly asked: "Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" And, here is His answer in verse 62: "And Jesus said, I am: ...." Jesus had no qualms about who He was. He knew He was God in flesh, and here tells us plainly. For those who do not believe Jesus is God in flesh, may I say that God the Father believes it, and God the Son here confesses it. The I AM has spoken! 4) GIVING THE GREATEST GIFT TO JESUS- The wise men for sure brought many wonderful gifts to lay before the Christ child. The young child Jesus received their worship and gifts, but the greatest gift was given my Mary in Luke 1:38. "And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the LORD; be it unto me according to thy word." You see, Mary gave herself. She yielded her body to carry baby Jesus. Isn't that what God wants of us.... us! Not our gifts and abilities, but just to give ourselves to Him. Our hearts to Him! Let us this Christmas give our greatest gift.... give ourselves fully and without restraint to the Savior. Well, I've got to go for now. May God richly bless! Dr. Mike Mutchler |
