PSALMS 52-73
I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving! It was so great to have my children around and the grand children as well. It made for a happy house. I just like having them near me. Our youngest son, Alex, is in his senior year at Hyles-Anderson College, and didn't get to come home, but he went to a friend's home and hopefully had a great time there. I'm in Psalms again and here are some thoughts: 1) LET ME OUT OF HERE! I'm sure you have felt that way some times in life. The pressures get a little intense sometimes, and David certainly felt this. In Psalms 55:6,7 he says: "And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. (7) Lo, then would I wander off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah." Yes, he wanted to just fly off and leave his troubles behind. It would be great IF it worked that way.... but it doesn't. Our troubles follow us. The best thing is to hunker down and humble ourselves in the sight of God and man, and deal with the problems, and their. So when you feel like running, run to God, and realize He is the solution. 2) WAKE UP! Psalms 57:8 says: ".... I myself will awake early." Oh, how I wish it said: "I would sleep in resting in the LORD". But, that is not what it says. Though I don't like to wake up early.... God likes it. He likes to met me early in the morning. How about you? Our flesh wants to sleep in some, but our spirit says: "Wake up, and walk with God!" 3) GOD CAN PART YOUR WATERS! In Psalms 66:6, it says: "He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him." Here David is singing the praises of God when He parted the Red Sea, and the people of God went across on dry ground. What an amazing show of God's power, and the Psalms are full of references to the Red Sea. NOW, in Psalms 69:2 it says: "I sink in deep mire, where there is not standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me." Now if God parted the waters of the Red Sea, he can part the floods that are overflowing you! Yes He can! Trust in the same God of the Red Sea, and see Him part the trials and problems that overflow you. He can part your waters! 4) HURRY UP GOD. In Psalms 70:1, it says: "Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD." Eleven times in ten verses in Psalms, David is saying "make haste". Hurry up God! How many times have we prayed this prayer ourselves, only to find that God seems to be in no hurry. Our trials are our schoolmasters. Faith is waiting on God when we don't see the answer we are wanting. We see that we are told to "Wait on the LORD". So, don't get excited, just wait on the LORD, and let us learn the lessons each trial has to teach us. Patience, humility, dependency... all good lessons to learn! Well, hope each and everyone of you have a blessed day. May God bless you! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
