PSALMS 131-140

Today is Monday.  What a wonderful, wonderful day we had yesterday at church.  Wow!  God was so very good to us.  We had a huge crowd of people.  Many were saved, six were baptized, and three families joined the church.  What a blessing!  Such a very good time.  We had scores of visitors, and many said they would be back.  God is just doing a work in our midst.  He is so good to us.  It would be my prayer that it just gets better and better.  I'm still in Psalms, but only for today and tomorrow and then Proverbs... here I come.  Here are some thoughts to share with you:

1) I'M CONTENT- Psalms 131:2 says:  "my soul is even as a weaned child."  A weaned child is a content child.  No hunger, just peaceful.  Happy with the world and all that is going on.  Our souls need to be just like that.  Not a care in the world, knowing only that God takes care of us.  Resting in the arms of our Savior.  What a blessing!

2) PRAISE- The whole book of Psalms is about praising the LORD.  In Psalms 135:1 it reads:  "Praise ye the LORD.  Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD."  Praise is mentioned three times in this one verse.  Now, what is praise?  Praise is ascribing "worth" to someone or something.  When we praise the LORD, we are letting God know that we believe He is worth more than anyone, and anything.  We are telling God how wonderful He is when we praise Him!  Let us brag on God.  Let us spend time each day just telling God how great He is.  This is praise, and this is what God desires from us.... praise!

3) THE LORD WILL PERFECT US- In Psalms 138:8, it reads:  "The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me:"  The word "perfect" means that God will finish what He started.  That truth is found throughout the Bible.  1 Thessalonians 5:24  "Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."  Philippians 2:13  "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."  Philippians 1:6  "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:"  Jude 1:24  "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"  God will finish what He has started in our lives.  Our job is to stay pliable and completely yielded to His hand and His will for our lives.  The LORD will perfect.... Praises!

Well, I'm done for now.  Hope you have a wonderful, blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
