PSALMS
Today is Friday. It is raining outside, and the sun is coming up very slowly today. I had a good time soul-winning last night and was able to pray with one young lady who trusted Christ as her Savior. I read this morning in Psalms 31-40. Here are a few items to share:
1) LAID UP- In Psalms 31:19, it reads: "Oh how great is thy goodness which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrotught for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!" God has great goodness "laid up" for us! We are told by Jesus to "lay up for yourselves" treasure in Heaven, but God also has been doing some laying up for us. I think God has more laid up for us than we could ever lay up for ourselves. I am looking forward to that time when I see what God has laid up for me. Heaven will be wonderful friend, and worth all of the trials of life and sacrifices you might have made for the Lord Jesus Christ. It truly will "be worth it all" when we see Christ!
2) TRANSGRESSIONS FORGIVEN, AND TRANSGRESSIONAL TUNE UP- In Psalms 32:1,2, we read: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. (2) Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile." Here we see that our transgressions are forgiven, praise Jesus!! But we continue to read in verse 5, that we have a tune up to apply. Not for Salvation, but for relationship. "I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah." Our tune up is to acknowledge and confess our transgressions! The relationship is once again enjoyed when the tune up is applied. Now, God loves us regardless, but love does not mean that someone is always pleased with our actions. We need to let the LORD know, that we know, that we were wrong, and that we are sorry about that. Practice daily tune ups and you will not need a major overhaul!!
3) NOT HERE LONG- Psalms 39:4,5 remind us of the fact that we are not here long. "LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. (5) Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his beast state is altogether vanity. Selah." Friend, we are not here long. So let us love God with all of our hearts. Let us serve Him while we can. Let us love those around us while we have the opportunity. Let us accomplish those things most important that we would love to accomplish. We are not here long, and we will not pass this way again. Like David, we need God to teach us this important reality.
Well, this is all for today. I wrote down so many things to share, but typing always takes me longer that I wished it would. Have a great day friend. Pastor Mike Mutchler
