PSALMS 111-120

Today is Saturday.  I will be at the Men's meeting soon with a devotion and then I will have a day to finally prepare for Sunday.  All is in the works and much labor is going forth today by our good bus workers to see that we have a great crowd on Sunday.  I'm in Psalms again, and here are some thoughts:

1) HIS HEART IS FIXED- Psalms 112:7 says:  "... his heart is fixed; trusting in the LORD."  We see this "fixed heart" in two other places in Psalms.  Psalms 57:7  "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise." and in Psalms 108:1  "O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory."  verse 8 says:  "His heart is established".  The same concept.  Having a fixed heart on God is important because circumstances will seek to move our hearts around and we need to be fixed upon the LORD.

2) DUMB IDOLS- Psalms 115:4-7  "Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.  5  They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:  6  They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:  7  They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat."  Yes, these are dumb idols, but even dumber is the ones who worship them.  We too see in our society those who worship the idols of sports, pleasure, money, possessions, fame, and the list goes on and on.  Let us never be found to be raising anything in our lives to that of an idol.  God does not like idols, and God is a jealous God who only wants our worship.  He will not share His glory with another.  These idols had all of the features, but none of the abilities.  Only our God is God!

3) O HAPPY DAY!  Psalms 118:24 says:  "This is the day which the LORD hath made:  we will rejoice and be glad in it."  Let today be a happy day because the LORD made this day.  He made it and we will determine by His grace to rejoice in it.  It is His day to see His creation rejoicing in Him!  I'm going to do my best to do my part in rejoicing in this day and being glad in it!  Join me please.

4) END WELL- Psalms 119:112 says:  "I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end."  Here we see that David's goal is to perform God's statutes to the end.  That ought to be a driving force in our lives as well.  I'm 57 years old.  As I grow older, I have such a strong desire to finish well.  Not great, not famed, but well.  I have no personal ambitions that have not already been exceeded by God.  I have seen far more accomplished than I ever dreamed possible, and especially considering God had me to work with.  I do want to finish well.  I want to go out the same way I came in.  I want to finish strong this ministry, this life, this marriage, this influence that God has give me.  Let us all decide to finish well.

This is all I have time to type my friend.  May God's blessings be upon you and remember........tomorrow..... is SUNDAY!!!  Yeah!
