IN PSALMS

Today is Thursday.  I sure enjoyed Church last night and our Walk Through The Bible.  I am using a powerpoint that I create each week to go through the different books of the Bible, and our people are enjoying it very much.  I'm in Psalms, and here are a few thoughts:

1) LET GOD ARISE- Psalms 68:1 says:  "Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered:  let them also that hate him flee before him."  David is wanting God to arise and deal with his enemies.  He will later learn of the longsuffering of God towards His enemies.  God doesn't want to send anyone to Hell.  But, one day.... God will arise.  He will arise as the judge of the whole earth and send the unrighteous to Hell forever.  He will arise and there will be no place to hide, no place to scatter.  We will see the day God says to mount up on white horses so that we can ride in at the end of the battle of Armageddon.  We will see the day that God arises, and we will see God on the White Throne as He judges the ungodly.  Until then let us be patient as God is with our enemies and His enemies.  One day.... GOD WILL ARISE!!

2) MANIFEST DESTINY- Manifest Destiny was the belief that God wanted America to be from sea to sea.  At the time when it was promoted, America was from see to the Mississippi River.  About 1/3rd of our country was in the boundaries of our present America.  In Psalms 72:8 it says:  "He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth."  As I read that this morning, it dawned on me that this verse put the idea of "manifest destiny" into play.  Our forefathers were readers of the Word of God.  Here the idea jumped into their heart and heads because God was using His Word to inspire an idea that America should be from sea to sea, and from the river Mississippi to the ends of the earth. (sea)  Now the passage is not speaking about America, but God uses His Word to speak truth and Manifest Destiny came out of the Word of God here in Psalms.  Wow!  I never thought about where that idea came from until reading this morning.  God's Word wants to provide direction for your life today.... let it!

3) IT IS GOOD!  Psalms 73:28 says:  "But it is good for me to draw near to God:...."  Yes, it is good.  So draw as close as you can!  Stay as close as you can.  In the presence of God is where our Peace is found.  Let us draw nigh to God with a clear heart!

Well, this is all I have to share today.  May God richly bless you and yours dear friend!  Drop me a line from time to time to let me know you are reading.  Just a sentence would be fine.  I enjoy putting out the blog, but would like it to be read by people.  The typing is what takes me so much time.  God bless!   Pastor Mike Mutchler
