I & II Chronicles
Had a great time with the staff yesterday as I rewarded them for knocking on 5,000 doors! They were all taken to the Jet Boat tour for two hours on the Willamette River. These Jet Boats have three large block Chevy engines and they can move so fast and yet turn on a dime! You do get soaked, but it was a lot of fun. They deserved it and I'm so proud of them. Today I'm in the Chronicles and here is a thought or two: 1) DIVINE FAVOR- We all need it, and we all want it, but living in such a way that God grants it is what we need to work at. In I Chron. 18: 13, we see the verse says: "Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went." God's divine favor was with David. Oh that God would grant unto us too, His humble servants, the divine favor that we long for and plead for each day in our prayers. "Shew me a token for good" dear LORD! 2) I Chron. 22- This whole chapter is David talking to Solomon about being a man of God and building the house of God. David had "prepared iron in abundance", "cedar trees in abundance", "an hundred thousand talents of gold" (talent being 160lbs), "a thousand thousand (a million) talents of silver" (that's a million times 160lbs!) "brass and iron without weight" "timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto." He concludes with: "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD." (vs. 19) 3) ASKING AND RECEIVING MORE THAN YOU ASKED FOR- Yes, this is what happened to Solomon in II Chron. 1. In verse 10, he asked for wisdom and knowledge. In verse 12, he was given by God: "Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like." The New Testament says that we too have this privilege of Asking for something and Getting far more than we ask for: Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us," Yes, keep asking in faith, because God can do far more than we ever imagine! Blessings upon your household today! Dr. Mike Mutchler, Pastor |
