PROVERBS

I'm writing much later in the day today, but just wanted to jot down a few thoughts from Proverbs.  Proverbs is Solomon writing to his son, Rehoboam.  Sadly enough, the son does not listen to his father's teaching.  Sadder still is that Solomon did not listen to his teaching!  We must be careful not just to preach the truth, but live the truth!  Here are some thoughts:
1) WISDOM- Wisdom is the principle thing... with all thy getting, get wisdom.  The first few chapters of Proverbs deal with wisdom.  Wisdom says: Listen to your parents, Watch your finances, Don't get around the loose woman, Don't run with the wrong crowd.  There are many verses that deal with each one of these truths.  We would do well to read and apply these truths.
2) GOD CAN BE FOUND- Prov. 8:17 says: "I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me."  Yes, God can be found.  He loves those that love Him.  Lord, we love you today and want you to know that.  We are not perfect by far Lord, but with our whole hearts we love You, and want to so live our lives that everyone knows it!!  Amen!!
3) STOPPING WRATH- Prov. 15:1 says: "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."  It takes two to argue.... don't be one of them!!  Speak softly and even when you disagree with someone it is not an argument, it is a discussion.  The subtle difference is great.  Don't let your homes be places of wrath, but places of love and agreement.
4) GOD'S COUNSEL SHALL STAND- Prov. 19:21 says: "There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand."  God's Word will stand forever!  We can follow God's counsel because it super-cedes everything man has to offer.  Man's heart has many devices, but we can look to the Lord knowing that His counsel will stand indeed!  Lord, help us to follow your leadership today knowing it is right forever. Amen.
Well, have a great day.  Thanks for walking through the Bible with me.  May God bless!!
