NUMBERS
Today is Saturday. The blog carrier has been messed up for a few days, but I think they are back in business. Here are some quick thoughts from Numbers: 1) ONE DAY! Numbers 14:21 says: "But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled the the glory of the LORD." One day we will see this in the new Heaven and the new Earth. It will be a blessing to see and be a part of. Oh how I long for that day! 2) THE LORD IS OUR GOD- Numbers 15:41 says: "I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God." God wants us to know who He is. Then He wants us to know Him. He already knows us, and loves us anyway. That is so amazing. We can be so unlovable at times, but God's love for us surpasses our understanding. Let us know Him and love Him. 3) IT WORKED, BUT IT DIDN'T- In Numbers 20:10-12, we see that they people are again complaining and asking for water in a dry place. God in verse 8 said to speak to the rock but in verse 11 we see that Moses smote the rock twice, "and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also." Well it worked didn't it? The water came out.... the people drank and their beast.... so it worked.... right? No. It lost Moses his ticket tot he promised land. In verse 12, we see that Moses was denied bringing this congregation into the promised land, "because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel." It doesn't work when it is not worked God's way. So many times we are seeing things 'work' in churches across this land, but is it really 'working' when it is not done God's way. These verses serve as another reminder that God wants His work done His way! Hope this gives food for thought. Hope you have a wonderful day. May God bless you and yours! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
