TITUS THRU JAMES
What a wonderful day yesterday! A great crowd of people. A great spirit in church. Eighteen baptized and two families joining the church. It was a real blessing! Here are some thoughts about some scriptures I read this morning: 1) ADORN?- Yes, we are to adorn the doctrine of God. It hardly seems possible that God could use us to make the truth of God more attractive. It would seem that we would only detract from the greatness of God, but God uses our lives to influence others and make the Gospel attractive to others and the doctrine of God desirable to others as well. Titus 2:10 "Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things." By living the life we are to live as Christians, we make God more attractive to a lost world. Let us ever be mindful to live our lives pleasing to God and an influence to others! 2) THREE KINGS IN ONE! I am talking about Melchisedec who is mentioned in Hebrews chapter seven. In verse two, he is called: King of Righteousness, King of Salem, and King of Peace. He is a type of Christ who truly is all three and more! 3) TITHES- In Hebrews chapter 7, Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham of all the spoils. (vs. 4) Abraham gave him, a priest, a tenth. This was before the law and before tithing was spelled out in the law of Moses. The law said that a priest was commanded to take tithes of the people (vs.5) Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham and then blessed him. (vs. 6) Men, here on earth receive tithes, but we receive tithes for Christ, because the Bible states that "there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth." Our tithing proves that we believe in a living Savior, who receives our tithes for His work on earth. So, we should tithe! 4) NO CHANGE IN GOD- James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." In describing God as not changing in the least, it brings up the image of a sun dial. We may not see the hour hand move on our watches, but we can see the second hand move. With God, you could not see the second hand move, because he does not move.... I am the Lord thy God, I change not. If you looked at a large sun dial, you would not see any shadow of movement as it describes God! He is the same, yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Praise the LORD!! Hope you have a blessed day, I am going to be finishing up the New Testament in just a day or two and then start all over again in the Old Testament. Hope you will join me in reading your Bible through this year and then following along on some of the truths I point out that speak to me as I read. May God bless you and yours!
