ISAIAH

I'm in Isaiah still this morning, and I'm also off soon to an early dentist appointment, so here is just a thought or two:

1) JUDGE, LAWGIVER, AND KING- Isaiah 33:22 says that God is all three of these.  A Judge interprets the law and hands out a judgment.  A Lawgiver is one who makes the laws that the Judges interpret.  A King is one who can pardon anyone the law convicts.  God is all three and as King of Kings and LORD of lords, he can set us free from the guilt and penalty that the law has given to us!

2) SEEK AND READ- Isaiah 34:16 says:  "Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read:"   Seek out God's Word each morning, and read it!

3) RESPONSE TO OVERWHELMING TIMES- Hezekiah, king of Judah, was faced with overwhelming opposition from the king of Assyria.  He was so greatly out numbered and was given an ultimatum.   But, here is Hezekiah's response:  a. Humility  37:1 (sackcloth & ashes); b. Church 37:1 (went into the house of the LORD); c. Preacher 37:2 (unto Isaiah); and d. Prayer  37:15-20   (He prayed and asked God for His help).  This will work for us too in our times of trials.

4) NONE OTHER- Isaiah 44:6  "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."  Twelve different times in Isaiah, we see this same truth worded that God is alone and that there is "no God" beside me!  Our God is the only God!  Let us serve Him.

Well, I've got to go for now.  May God bless you today!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
