II SAMUEL & I KINGS
It's Sunday!! I'm so looking forward to the day. We conclude our Mission's Conference today and it has been wonderful! I am looking forward to making a strong commitment to Missions myself, and trusting that God has also touched the hearts of many others as well. Here are a few thoughts from II Samuel and I Kings: 1) HE IS OUR ROCK- In II Samuel 22:32, it says: "For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?" God is our ROCK!! On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand! Praise God, He is our Rock! 2) HUMILITY BROUGHT EXALTATION- In I Kings 3, we see that Solomon humbly makes a request from the LORD, and God blesses him with so much and exalts him greatly. It all began with a humility of mind however. Notice in verse 7, Solomon says: "I am but a little child; I know not how to go out or come in." He is saying that he is not a man of war like his father and could not lead the army as it needed to be led, but God gave him wisdom to run the nation and exalted it to it's highest ever! Humility goes a long way with God. Stay humble in God's presence and He will lift you up in His timing!! 3) THE DANGER OF OLD AGE- In I Kings 11:4, it says: "For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father." When he got old, he started compromising what he believed. WHY?? It happens all of the time in Churches and Pastors. Here is why: They get tired of the struggle! It is a constant struggle to keep things right, to keep truth foremost, to constantly correct things that are lacking and truth that has been mixed with error. It is hard work to stay vigilant and keep things straight in heart, in life, in church.... BUT... it is still God's WILL for us!! As we get older, we should Mellow out, but not compromise with this old world. Stay true to the stuff dear soldier of God and the rewards are just around the corner!! Well, so much for today! Have a good day in the LORD! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
