PSALMS again!
Today, I'm in Millington, Tennessee visiting my parents. I went back to the Airport this morning and picked up our luggage. After arriving back home, I started reading my Bible and read some more in Psalms. Let me tell you some of the thoughts I jotted down in the margin of my Bible. 1) Ps. 55:6, 7 tells us of the temptation to escape. All of us reach times in our lives when we want to run away and escape from the trials of life. David said: "Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness." He wanted to run away and hide. But, the reality is that we cannot do that. We have responsibilities and people are counting on us. The next time you feel this same temptation, just remember that David thought this, but did not do this. 2) NO FEAR OF MAN- Ps. 56:3, 11 both tell us not to fear man. "I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." And "I will not be afraid what man can do unto me." Oh that God would help us to fear only Him and none other! The Bible tells us that the fear of man is a snare. We will never do what we are supposed to do if we are afraid of what people will think or do. 3) TESTIMONY- Ps. 66:16- "I will declare what he hath done for my soul." We need to give our testimony to others. I like times when we have a testimony service. It seems it used to be done much more often, but about twice a year we have a testimony service. It always is the same….. it starts off slow and then everyone wants to share their testimony. But that's a good thing. David said he would declare what God had done for his soul. We should do the same!! 4) OLD AGE – Ps. 71:9, 19 These verses tell us that God will keep us strong enough to tell the next generation. "Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength failed." Our strength will fail, when we get older, but God will not fail us. God will stay with us right up till the time we cross through death's door and stand in His presence. We are sown in weakness… we are raised in power!! (I Cor. 15:43) Well, these are my thoughts for today. I hope you have a great day. I will have one visiting with my father and mother, brother and sister and their families. Dad is weak and very thin, but enjoys sitting and talking with me. He hugged me and cried with joy. I'm happy to be visiting with him and my dear mother again!! |
