I & II KINGS

This is Saturday Morning, and I must hurry off to meet with some men at church for our teaching time and prayer breakfast.  But here is a few thoughts from today's reading:

1) I Kings 16:25 "Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him."  Usually children are a reflection of their parents.  No matter how good the church is, they usually become like mom and dad.  Here we see that Omri was very evil, and no surprise that he has a son who is named Ahab, and that son will marry a woman named Jezabel.  Together, they make the wickedess couple in the Bible!  What are you helping to rear??

2) I Kings 18:24 "the God that answereth by fire, let him be God."  Let's serve the God that works!  I'm glad that God works, He is not just worshipped, He WORKS!!

3) I Kings 22:49 "But Jehoshaphat would not".  After joining with so many different ungodly men in different ventures, finally.... Jehoshaphat said no!  Don't join up with the ungodly crowd, that's the pure teaching of God's Holy Word!

4) II Kings 2:9 "a double portion of thy spirit be upon me"  Elisha had a great request!  A double portion of the spirit of Elijah.  And, he was granted that.  Twice as many miracles are recorded about Elisha than Elijah, even though Elijah was a great, great prophet.  What are we asking for??  We too need a double portion of God's Spirit in these troubled days we live in.

Well, I've got to go.  May God richly bless you today!!
