PSALMS 93-113

It's Thursday morning, and I have today and tomorrow to be in Millington, Tennessee with my parents, brother and sister, and their families.  It is always nice to visit and see everyone.  Yesterday, I was sitting in a rocking chair reading and next to me on the couch was my mother reading her Bible.  I have seen her do that for most of my life, but it still blesses my heart and reminds me what a godly woman she is.  Thank you Lord for being so good to me in giving me a godly mother.

Today, I started reading in Ps. 93 and read through 113.  Here are a few thoughts:

1) Ps. 94:9 "He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?  He that formed the eye, shall he not see?"  My mother mentioned she had just noticed that on Monday in her reading, and I told her Tuesday that it is a great verse.  Israel is accusing God of not hearing them, but the response is "I made the ear, of course I hear!  I made the eye, of course I see!"  (a paraphrase)  God hears us and sees us even when we feel like He isn't paying attention to us; we are still the apple of His eye! *The Apple of the Eye, is the reflection in the pupil of the eye at what it is looking at.  In other words, if you looked in God's eyes, you would see yourself, for He is looking at you!!

2) Ps. 101:3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes:" God wants us to be pure and holy, but we will not be doing that if we are watching wickedness.  We need to make sure we are guarding what our eyes look at.  A constant struggle in this world in which we live, but a struggle we need to be engaged in.

3) Psalms 104-106.  In these three chapters, we have a history lesson with spiritual applications.  Ch. 104 tells us of Creation through Noah; Ch. 105 tells us of Abraham through Moses; and Ch. 106 tells us of Moses, the Exodus, and the Wilderness journey.  When you read these three chapters, keep that in mind and you will see it in the verses.

4) THE FIXED HEART- Ps. 108:1 "O GOD, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory."  Ps.. 112:7 "his heart is fixed trusting in the LORD."  Ps. 112:8 "His heart is established,"  Ps. 57:7 "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:  I will sing and give praise."  The fixed heart is a heart that doesn't waver because of circumstances.  David said his heart was fixed on song and praise, and regardless of what came his way in life, he was stuck on song and praise to God.  We too need to have our hearts fixed on God!  Whatever trials await us, we should be fixed in our faith and knowledge of God's goodness and love to us.

Well, so much for today.  I hope you have a blessed day and that all is going well for you.  Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you!!  Hope you have a great day.  Pastor Mike Mutchler
