II Corinthians

I've had four cups of coffee so far today, but it is almost noon.  I took my wife to the airport this morning to fly out to a ladies conference she is speaking at.  I think she is a much better speaker than I am, and I'm happy for her to have these opportunities.  In reading II Corinthians, (again, only 10 chapters to get back on schedule), I found a few thoughts to share:

1) II Cor. 5:8 "to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  This is our blessed hope that when we die, we go immediately into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.  What joy!!  What glory!! It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!!

2) II Cor. 8:11  "readiness to will"  This passage is talking about giving.  Chapters 8, 9, and 10 are all about giving.  The Holy Spirit knows this to be an important subject that must be addressed.  WE are to fund the work of God on earth!  The reality is that it never is about money, it is about a "readiness to will".  It is about the heart.  Someone who has an heart for God will never have lack to give.  They will never have all they would like to give, but they will find something to give when their heart has that "readiness to will".  The next time you hear someone say, "I just cannot afford to give".  Realize it is not about money, but about the heart, and someone who has an heart to give to God's work makes that a priority in their lives and budget.

3) II Cor. 9:15 "his unspeakable gift".  What does that mean?  We know it is talking about the gift of Salvation that Jesus gave to us by His death on the cross, but what about that phrase "unspeakable".  Does that mean it is so sacred we should not speak about it?  No, it means that it is so glorious, that words cannot properly express our gratitude.  It makes us speakless when we try to express it all!

Well, I'm late today, I'll catch you earlier tomorrow.  These are just a few thoughts today.  May God bless!!!  Pastor Mike Mutchler    P.S.--Love you MOTHER!!! and Dad!
