ISAIAH SOME MORE
Today is Thursday. I really enjoyed teaching through Deuteronomy last night and we had a good crowd out for Church. Today I am reading in Isaiah and here are a few thoughts: 1) SET A WATCHMAN- Isaiah 21:6 says: "For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth." Now notice that God told Isaiah to set a watchman and that this watchman should declare what he seeth. Now preachers have been set up by God to be watchman. They study God's Word, are sensitive to God's Spirit and leadership, and are commissioned to tell what they seeth. It is interesting to me that someone will complain about what a preacher preaches, or how he operated the work of God, (without being unbiblical, immoral, or unlawful, or unethical) and then complain that they do not like the report the watchman gives. He is told to tell what "they" seeth. Not what people want to see, but what the man of God sees, that he is supposed to preach. Don't shoot the messenger because you do not like the message. Preachers don't write God's news, they just deliver it. Listen to the watchman, for he watches over your soul. (Heb. 13) 2) IT APPLIES TO ALL- God's Word applies to all of us. This is carefully shown in Isaiah 24:2 when it says: "And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him." God's Word truly does apply to all of us. We need to understand that and accept the fact that it applies to us too! 3) WOE UNTO THEM- Isaiah 29:15 says: "Woe unto them that seek deep to hid their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?" Here we see that God calls a woe unto people who try to hide their works from the LORD. It is that act of thinking one can hide anything from God that insults Him. To that person God pronounces a woe! Let us not fall into that category. Well, so much for today. May God richly bless you and yours! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
