PSALMS & PROVERBS
We had a wonderful day yesterday at Church. God met with us and it was a blessing. We are so blessed and I am so thankful. I finished up Psalms today and read the first two chapters of Proverbs. Here are some thoughts I had: 1) UNITY=ANOINTING=BLESSING - Psalms 133:1-3 says: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! (2) It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; (3) As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessings, even life for evermore." For many years, I understood verse one, but not the rest of this short chapter. I knew it was good and pleasant for the brethren to dwell together in unity, but frankly, I didn't understand having oil poured down upon your head and the dew of Hermon. But, now I know. Unity is being compared to the incidents of verse two and three. God is telling us that Unity is equal to the anointing oil that was put upon the head of Aaron, the high priest as he is anointed to be the high priest of the God. So then Unity=Anointing! But, it doesn't stop there. It then compares unity to the dew that falls upon Hermon. (which is Mt. Zion) There God commanded blessings. (Lev. 25:21; Deut 28:8) At these times, God commanded blessing upon Israel. Commanded blessings! So, God is saying that our Unity=Commanded Blessings from God! Therefore; UNITY=ANOINTING=BLESSING! Wow.... looks like we ought to seek unity. Amen? 2) THOU ART THERE - Psalms 139:8 says: "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there." There is no escaping God! You might as well spend time in His pleasure (Heaven); rather than spend time in His wrath. (Hell) You cannot escape Him, for He is everywhere! Embrace Him, Love Him, Worship Him, Trust Him, Accept Him, Follow Him, and spend eternity in His loving favor. (In Heaven) 3) PRAISE- Psalms 150:6 "Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." The first word of this short chapter is Praise, and the last thought is praise. Thirteen times in these six short verses, we are called upon to Praise the LORD! Wow! Seems like God is trying to tell us something. We don't praise enough. Praise is not kept for Church, it is in our everyday life, in our every day prayers, it is recognizing God for who He is. Worthy of our praise. Great beyond description. Powerful beyond comprehension. Wise beyond our imagination. More lovely than our thoughts can realize. Altogether lovely! Praise Him all ye people. Praise Him in the morning, praise Him in the noontime, Praise Him in the evening, Praise Him all day long. Praise the LORD! LORD, I praise you today! Thou and thou alone art worthy. I am nothing, and you are everything. I love You LORD and I lift my heart and voice to You today. Let me life bring You pleasure. Let my heart press hard after Yours! I will thirst for You today; I will long to hear Your voice and feel Your arms of love about me. Thank you dear Jesus!! Praise Your Holy Name. Amen. Have a great Memorial Day and remember those who fought for our freedoms. Pastor Mike Mutchler |
