I CHRONICLES & II CHRONICLES
Today I finished up I Chronicles and read the first two chapters of II Chronicles. Here are just some of the highlights: 1) DAVID'S HEART FOR HIS MEN- I Chron. 12:17 says: "And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you:...." David knit his heart to his men. Thy knew this and responded in like kind to David. (vs. 18) "Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine we are, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee." So, when they saw the heart of David, their heart answered in the same fashion. No wonder, David's men kept growing, and growing. (vs. 22) "For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God." Day by day... it grew and grew, all because the leader had a HEART for Men!! 2) DAVID'S ATTITUDE ABOUT HIMSELF- I Chron. 17:16- "And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house that thou hast brought me hitherto?" After being told by the prophet that he could not build the temple, David is not upset, but rather goes to the LORD and acknowledges that he is nothing. God uses men who have no confidence in the flesh. We have already see David's Heart for his men, now we see David's Attitude about himself. He had a humble, lowly attitude about himself. He did not feel worthy of the position to which God had called him. He did not feel worthy of the blessings that God had bestowed upon him. This attitude is what allows God to do miraculous things with us. Our pride of personal accomplishment actually decreases greatly God's ability to use us. He will only use a vessel that will give God all of the glory! Let us every one adopt David's attitude as ours! 3) DAVID'S PREPARATION- I Chron. 22:14 says: "Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand (million) talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared: and thou mayest add thereto." David could not build the temple, but his heart was so in tune with the house of God that he prepared the supplies for his son, Solomon to build the temple. David made the preparations, and he had the pattern of the temple as well. (28:19) "All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern." LORD, You have taught me so much by seeing David's heart and attitude. Would You create in me that same heart, that same spirit. I love you LORD, and desire to walk with You today. You are on the move today... and I want to follow Your steps. I want to be fruitful for You, and You alone. I have no ambition of my own, only to be used of my God, and to love Him as He deserves. Filter my mind of all that would hinder my walk with You; Fill my heart with all that would help my walk with You. This is Your day LORD, let me live it for You! Amen. Well, this is all for now. Hope you have a blessed day. Please be in prayer for Larry Chappell, Dr. Paul Chappell's son battling cancer treatments, and Josh Goddard, Dr. Bruce Goddard's son battling cancer now as well. Two great men with son's about 25 years old battling cancer. Let us battle in prayer for these two fine young men. May God bless your day! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
