PSALMS SOME MORE
We had a great day yesterday with over 50 trusting Christ as their personal Savior. It was a joy to see so many getting saved and such a great crowd and spirit at Church. God is so good to us! I'm reading in Psalms 93-112, and here are just a few thoughts for the day: 1) LOVE-HATE - In Psalms 97:10, it says: "Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:" This shows us that do the one, we must do the other. The degree that we love the Lord is the degree that we hate evil and visa versa. We cannot love God and secretly love that which is evil. We must remind ourselves that to be a friend of this world is to be an enemy of God. There is no middle ground. These two are complete opposites and the closer we get to God, the further we get from evil and visa versa as well. 2) HOW TO BEHAVE WISELY- In Psalms 101 we have the secret to how to behave wisely before God. Verse 2 says: "I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way." Then the chapter goes on and tells us what is needed to behave wisely. A. Guard your eyes- vs. 3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes:" We must watch what we see if we are to behave wisely. It is very foolish to allow our flesh to enjoy watching what our spirit rejects as being unpleasing to the LORD. B. Guard our associations- vs. 4 "I will not know a wicked person." and vs. 7 "He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight." Here again we see that our associations, friendships, companionships must be guarded if we are to be godly. We must remove any associations that are not pro-righteous in our lives IF we would behave ourselves wisely. and then finally C. Look for godly examples- vs. 6 "Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they man dwell with me:" We must not only avoid those who would lead us astray, but follow those who would lead us in paths of righteousness. We must gather around ourselves those who would do right! IN doing so, we can behave wisely as David desired to do. 3) LET ALL THE PEOPLE SAY, AMEN. This is what Psalms 106:48 says: "Belessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD." I'm thinking when it says to say: Amen, that probably, we should say: Amen! Don't be bashful about affirming truth. If you hear something at Church that blesses your heart, or you know to be truth, then say Amen! Amen! Have a blessed day and rejoice in the LORD! Pastor Mike Mutchler |
