PSALMS

I'm in Psalms again and yesterday my whole blog stayed in one chapter.  I hope to spread it out more today.  I heard from my dear Mother yesterday and she enjoyed something I wrote a few days ago.  I do have the best mother in the world, and I love you Mom!

1) FLEE TO FAITH- In Psalms 55, David is facing some serious problems like all of us do at times.  In verse 4 he says: "My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me."  He is hurting..... do you know that feeling?  Sure you do.  Now here is his initial response: (vs. 6,7) "And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove!  for then would I fly away, and be at rest.  Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah."  He wants to flee... have you ever felt that? (you kidding?)  In verses 12-14, we see that this hurt was caused by a dear and close friend.  (now we understand the depth of the hurt)  But notice that instead of fleeing... he flees to faith!  vs. 16 "As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me."  vs.17 "Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice."  vs. 22 "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee:..."   Dear Friend.... when your heart too is breaking... flee to faith!  God's arms are there to comfort you.  You can cry on His shoulders.  You can trust in His strength and wisdom and grace.  Embrace Him.
2) A YEAR OF HOPE- In Psalms 65:11, it reads: "Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness."  I read this and it gives me hope.  Though 2009 may be a tough year, God will crown the year with His goodness!  Thank you Jesus!
3) I AM PART OF THIS CROWD- In Psalms 68:11, it reads: "The LORD gave the word: great was the company of those that published it."  I don't print any of God's Word, but I give it out..  Last night I shared the gospel to with two teenage girls (sisters).  They both sweetly trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior.  Each week I have the joy of sharing the Savior with people and I average seeing three to five being saved.  I'm just a small part of this great company who publish God's Word.  Will you join the crowd?  It doesn't need to be re-written, but re-read, and re-told over and over again.
4) WONDROUS THINGS- Psalms 72:18 says: "Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things."  Praise God... He "only doeth wondrous things"!!

Dear LORD,
Thank You for Your Word today.  I feel like fleeing sometimes myself I must admit, but David challenged me, and like him, I have learned in my life to flee to faith.  I don't want to quit, and Lord, I've not ever given that option much thought, but like David, I've known hurt.  Not the hurt of people all around me, mine seems so small in comparison, but I've know dear friends leave.  People I love, people I've served, people I've felt deeply for; but You are faithful.  You give me more people to love, more to serve, more to give myself to again.  Lord, when I don't have the answers, help me to flee to faith.  Your arms are still strong!  Your resources are still solid, they have not evaporated away like worldly goods have done.  Your compassion is waiting for me to call upon Your name.... help me.... evening, and morning, and at noon.... to call upon Your Holy name!!  I will revel in Your answer.  Thank You God!  I love You!   Amen... Mike
Have a blessed day.... talk to God a few times today..  He is listening.  Pastor Mutchler
