PROVERBS

Today is Saturday and it is a nice day outside.  I was reading in Proverbs today and I have chosen to comment on only a few today for time's sake.
1) Prov. 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding."  If we will but be good listeners instead of good talkers, then people will at least assume we are wise!  Learn a lesson from Proverbs!
2) Prov. 19:17- "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."  God takes pity upon the poor and desires us to do the same.  The poor we have with us always, Jesus said, but he wasn't implying to ignore the poor.  The poor should be helped not enabled, but given a hand up.  If we help the poor, God will pay us back.... not the poor, but the God who cares for the poor.
3) YOUR FACE IS SHOWING- Prov. 21:29 says: "A wicked man hardeneth his face:"  People don't realize how much their faces show about them!  When someone is not right with God, you can see it in their face.  The smile is gone, the frown is back!  Let us show a world the love of our Savior, and our love for HIm, by our face!!
4) WE AFFECT ONE ANOTHER- Prov. 27:17 says: "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."  We can and do affect others, and others affect us!!  We need to pick who sharpens us, and it will be someone who we spend time around.  Influence others for God and good, and be influenced by others for the same!
Have a blessed day!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
