Joshua & Judges

This morning, I finished up Joshua and the first 15 chapters of Judges.  I typed everything out and then my finger hit the wrong key and erased everything, so here I go again.  In Joshua 21:45, it says:  "There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass."  This reminds us that the promises of God are sure!  He will keep His word.  What He says, He will do.  I'm glad that our Salvation is based on the promise of God.  If we trust Christ as our Savior, God has promised to save us!  In 24:15, Joshua tells the people to make their choice and that he has already made his.  He said:  "As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."  So many today think that they cannot impose their beliefs on their homes, but we have an obligation to see that our homes glorify the LORD in all we do.  We want to do that which encourages our homes to live for Christ and be pleasing to the Lord.  Our example is what makes it work!!  We cannot say one thing and live another and have it work in the home.  We must live what we profess.  In chapter 24:31 it talks of influence.  People lived for God all of the days of Joshua and all of the days of those who knew of Joshua.  We should so live our lives to have influence on others for good and for God.
Judges is a book of judges!  A judge was a deliverer of Israel.  The nation fall into sin and God would raise up a godly judge when the nation repented of their sin.  We see men like Gideon mightly used of God and the many miracles that worked through men and women who rose to the occasion to be used of God.  Many times, just common people uncommonly used of God and thus are we.  Common people wanting to be used of the Lord can be used mightily.  This is what I want for my life.  Well, I've got an appointment.  See you tomorrow!!  Pastor Mike Mutchler
